Spencer man arrested on weapon charge in Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A Spencer man is facing charges after allegedly brandishing a knife at people in Ithaca.

Jared T. Manley, 22, was arrested early in the morning on Aug. 31 after police investigated a report about someone waving a knife at people. According to the Ithaca Police Department, people approached officers who were patrolling the Commons at about 1:20 a.m. on Saturday and said that a man brandished a knife at them.

Police say that the officers canvased the area and found Manley, who matched the description of the man with the knife. Officers interviewed Manley, and the victims positively identified him. Manley was then arrested without incident.

Manley was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a class D felony) and second-degree menacing (a class A misdemeanor).

Manley’s charges were read in the Ithaca City Court, and he was released on his own recognizance. Manley will appear in the Ithaca City Court at a later date.
