ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Through September 15, people can visit any of the Dunkin’ Donuts locations within the Southern Tier of New York and donate at least a dollar to receive a free donut. The proceeds will support the Western New York Make-A-Wish chapter.

The donut campaign began to offer the donuts on Wednesday, September 4. According to Abbey Celester, director of marketing with the Bapa network, the campaign is expanding to new markets in New York.

Shanticka Crawford explained to 18 News that her daughter Serenity Woodson, one of the Make-A-Wish kids, was born with a liver disease and had a transplant. Woodson’s wish was granted this past March when she spent a week in Disney with her family.

“It was a great experience for us because they also let my niece go with us and her brother, so they paid for the whole family, they provided us a place to stay. They helped us with funds, we didn’t have to pay for anything,” said Crawford. “Serenity was talking about Disney forever. She’s six, and she just kept talking about it, so to know that we didn’t have to get the funds ourselves to take her, it was great. She was happy. Smiled all day, every day.”
