Gio rips White Sox for intentionally walking Juan Soto: 'You've got 29 damn wins'

Aaron Judge went deep for his 300th career home run on Wednesday night, coming on the heels of Juan Soto being intentionally walked to bring Judge to the plate.

Judge made the White Sox pay by cranking home run No. 300, though he said after the game that he didn’t blame Chicago for giving the red-hot Soto the free pass, considering Soto went deep in four straight at-bats against them over a span of two nights, including in his first at-bat of Wednesday’s game. But Gio didn’t like the move at all.

“Why are we walking people if you’re the White Sox at this point?” Gio said. “You’ve got 29 damn wins. Just pitch to these guys.

“I know Grady Sizemore is the interim manager and is maybe trying to show that he can manage during this time, but my God, just play the game.”

Soto and Judge are arguably the best lineup duo in baseball, and walking a player to get to Judge seems like blasphemy, especially with how Judge is hitting right now.

“He is having a remarkable season once again, and we're talking about a guy who had a miserable start to the season,” Gio said. “He essentially had a throwaway month and you look up at his numbers at this point and we're talking about a great season for anybody, and an all-time season for anybody.”
