    Polk County man wins $1M from scratch-off ticket purchased at Publix

    WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — A Winter Haven man who played the SEVEN FIGURES scratch-off game claimed a seven-figure prize of $1 million, according to the Florida Lottery.

    Carlos Cole, Sr., 53, purchased his lucky ticket from Publix, located at 6031 Cypress Gardens Boulevard in Winter Haven. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for the sale.

    The Florida Lottery said Cole claimed his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $695,000.

    The $5 scratch-off game features more than 5.8 million winning tickets, offering over $79.5 million in cash prizes with a top prize of $1 million. The game’s overall odds are at 1-in-3.77.

    Since its inception, Florida Lottery scratch-off games have awarded more than $61.9 billion in prizes and have generated more than $18.95 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
