HOLMES BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A lighting strike set a building on Holmes Beach ablaze Thursday morning, according to the West Manatee Fire Rescue District.

Around 10:18 a.m., crews responded to 5347 Gulf Drive, a building where locals and tourists can rent paddleboards and kayaks.

Security footage on a nearby building caught the lightning strike that sent the building up in flames.

Fire Rescue extinguished the fire and evacuated the building. No injuries were reported from the incident.

“We’re grateful for the swift and professional response of our firefighters and partnering agencies,” Fire Chief Ben Rigney of West Manatee Fire Rescue said.
