Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle on Lake Shore Drive, driver issued citations

CHICAGO — A male pedestrian is dead after a being hit by a vehicle on Lake Shore Drive early Saturday morning, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Police said a silver SUV with a male driver was traveling northbound in the 1300 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive around 4:10 a.m. when he hit a pedestrian that was in the street.

The male driver stayed on scene and will be issued citations, according to CPD, while the pedestrian — An unidentified male victim — Suffered severe body trauma and was treated by the Chicago Fire Department before being pronounced dead on scene.

No other information is available at this time while CPD’s Major Accidents unit maintains an ongoing investigation.
