CHICAGO — A man from Park Ridge appeared in court Monday on charges that he attacked a Chicago police officer during last week’s Democratic National Convention.

Nicholas Bongiorno, 18, is charged with four counts of battery to an officer and obstructing police. Prosecutors allege Bongiorno pushed an officer to the ground, causing him to suffer a concussion.

Police had asked Bongiorno to leave the area following a city-approved march and protest. According to the department, the 18-year-old also failed to provide identification or his address to police.
