JEFFERSON PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — Jefferson Parish’s animal welfare department is hoping someone has information about two iguanas that were found bound and abandoned in the parish recently.

Jefferson Protection and Animal Welfare Services reported the first iguana was found bound with zip ties in Kenner on April 15. It’s expected to recover after being taken to a sanctuary.

The second iguana suffered a different fate. It was found on May 2 in Metairie and was bound with tape. It died soon after being found, according to the department.

“We are looking for any information that may help us find the perpetrator of these cruel acts against a defenseless animal,” the department posted to Facebook.
