They said an initial investigation shows that a trooper was driving an LSP unit north on Louisiana Highway 24 North while 63-year-old Deak Matteson Jr. was allegedly driving a Ford F-150 south in the northbound lane.

LSP officials said the trooper then tried to stop Matteson, who allegedly kept driving and hit the LSP unit head-on.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment and has since been released.
