Earlier this year, Jason Tucker and Richard Bihrle of La Cuisine Du Chevalier , or “ La Chev ,” announced plans to open a second location at 208 E 1st N St in Downtown Summerville . Instead, the restaurant will now relocate to this historic property.

The French-inspired eatery has closed its original location at 1585 Central Ave in Knightsville , and Tucker and Bihrle are transforming the space into Knightsville Bar & Grill .

The recently released menu features classic American fare such as salads, burgers, and sandwiches. Knightsville Bar & Grill is expected to open before Labor Day, with options for both dine-in and takeout.

Meanwhile, the new La Chev, located in a 100-year-old renovated property, will accommodate about 50 diners indoors and 50 outdoors. According to The Post and Courier , the owners believe this location is better suited to the fine dining atmosphere of La Chev.

Chef Jonathan DuPriest , who has been with La Chev since its inception, will continue to lead the kitchen at the new site. Tucker told The Post and Courier that the menu will remain true to the original, featuring French- and Lowcountry-inspired dishes such as crab croquettes, shrimp and grits, steak, and yellowfin tuna.

La Chev’s new downtown location is expected to debut this fall, just a few miles away from the soon-to-be Knightsville Bar & Grill.
