Clawson to Welcome New Neighborhood Bar

Clawson’s Downtown Development Authority approved a Class C liquor license for a new bar called The Loc@l at 143 E. 14 Mile Rd . The business is currently under construction.

The 14 Mile Road stretch already has quite a few eateries, including Nobel Fish, Sabbath Coffee Roasters, and Irish pub Gus’s Snug , which opened not so long ago. But the block seems to be missing a casual hang-out spot where people can just come in, chill, and enjoy some bar bites.

The absence of a local sports bar is about to be filled by upcoming business The Loc@l. The name, clearly, is a play of “the local,” indicating what the bar is about: creating a space for the community to gather and have a good time.

A rendering created by Auburn Hills-based DesignHaus Architecture suggests the space will have wood flooring and interiors, with a large glass wall that can be opened when the weather is nice. The bar will have a few TV screens for sports viewing, a pool table, and some classic arcade machines.

The incoming business is owned and operated by the father-and-son duo George and Jacob Kruk . George Kruk is also the president of Kruk Cards, one of Michigan’s most famous trading posts for baseball cards and other sports trading cards. What Now Detroit reached out to Kruk for more details regarding The Loc@l but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.
