A first-of-its-kind destination for Nashville is opening this fall, combining a large off-leash dog park with a neighborhood bar and cafe to give pet parents and dog lovers a new favorite spot to eat, drink, unwind, and let their pups play. Urban Dog Bar will kick off its Grand Opening weekend on Friday, October 4th at 5700 Ohio Avenue in Nashville – but there are a few things to know about this unique new destination to make the most of your first visit:

Some Nashville bars are dog-friendly, but only Urban Dog Bar is dog-focused, with an expansive 15,500 square-foot outdoor park where guests can play fetch on the turf, sip drinks at shaded tables, or watch the game on indoor and outdoor screens. The amenities for dogs and people at Urban Dog Bar also include:

    • 5,000 square-foot dogs-allowed indoor area with heating and cooling.
    • Trained “rufferees” onsite to supervise play, keep things tidy, and provide fresh water.
    • Separate, dedicated spaces for on-leash dogs, small dogs, and general play.
    • Full bar with eight local beer taps, wine options, canned drinks, mocktails, and dog beer (non-alcoholic, of course!)
    • Shaded, comfortable indoor and outdoor seating with televisions and free Wi-Fi

Urban Dog Bar is free to enter for humans, and dogs with up-to-date vaccinations and friendly temperaments can be signed up for daily, monthly, or annual membership passes. Guests should download the “Urban Dog Bar” app from the App Store or Google Play to purchase a membership or day pass, upload vaccination records, and sign a waiver before bringing their dogs to the Grand Opening. From now through September 4th, Urban Dog Bar is offering a limited-time Founding Member deal that lets early bird guests lock in a 20% discount on membership for life. This membership unlocks all amenities, including a full-service bar, freshly prepared food options, a spacious supervised turf area for dogs to play, and member-exclusive perks like a 10% discount on retail goods and private party rentals, plus access to members-only events.

Austin and Rebecca Gauthier were inspired by their own dogs — golden retrievers Edley and Dolly — to bring Urban Dog Bar to Nashville. “We wanted to create a space where pet parents can enjoy socializing without worrying about their dog having water on hand or space to roam,” said Rebecca, co-owner of Urban Dog Bar in a statement. “Meeting friends for a beer doesn’t have to mean leaving your dogs at home for hours,” said co-owner Austin. “With Urban Dog Bar, pet parents don’t have to compromise, and they get great drink and food service and entertainment as a bonus.”

The opening weekend kicks off Urban Dog Bar’s grand opening activities. First-time visitors are strongly encouraged to download the Urban Dog Bar app to set up their accounts and sign up for a membership deal ahead of time, but visitors can also bring in immunization records and get in-person assistance with the sign-up process on-site.

To learn more about Urban Dog Bar’s requirements and other membership options, visitors can download the Urban Dog Bar app, visit UrbanDogBar.com for the latest offers.

Urban Dog Bar is located at 5700 Ohio Avenue and will be open Monday – Thursday from noon – 9pm, Friday – Saturday from 9am to 10pm, and Sunday from 9am to 8pm.
