According to SF Eater , longtime Vietnamese restaurant The Slanted Door is relocating from the Ferry Building, returning to its former digs on Valencia Street.

Coming to 584 Valencia Street , the eatery will land near establishments such as the Chinese restaurant Bao, Mexican restaurant Puerto Alegre, and Stonemill Matcha.

“Going back to the old place I think would do more for Slanted Door than had we stayed in the Ferry Building,” owner Charles Phan tells the journal. He adds, “The size, the volume, that was going to hinder us. But now this gives us a brand new opportunity where we could continue to change dining.”

“The goal is to really re-emphasize what we’re trying to do all these years, which is bring a little piece of Vietnam to you and, hopefully, with our skill and our craft, that will actually taste good,” Phan shares.

“Part of the success of Slanted Door has always been the fact that we keep changing,” Phan says. “We don’t change a lot, but every time we move, we change some of the ways we do things and it becomes something else — the place drives a lot of that energy.”

The Slanted Door is slated to reopen in Spring 2025.
