Indiana DNR Accepting Applications for Shooting Range Grants
The DNR Shooting Range Grant Program is accepting applications for the development of rifle, handgun, shotgun firing, and archery opportunities for public use. While growing up in southern Indiana, I always looked forward to trips to the shooting range. I started out at just seven years old with a simple single shot .22 rifle, before making my way up to a 12-gauge shotgun around the age of 11. Eventually, I was given the opportunity to fire a few different handguns. The hobby has stuck with me through the years, and I've since become fascinated with old military surplus rifles. I still make regular trips to the shooting range today.
Regional Health Systems holds ribbon cutting for innovative Crisis C.A.R.E. Unit at Merrillville location
On Tuesday July 16, Regional Health Systems, a Regional Care Group Member, hosted a ribbon cutting for the new Crisis C.A.R.E. Unit at their Merrillville Care Center location. The Crisis C.A.R.E. Unit, which has been in the works for over a year and a half, is a facility that will provide individuals experiencing a mental health crisis with immediate care and support. Additionally, the staff is available to assist in crisis 24/7 since the emergency number is always staffed and open.
Home prices still on the rise in Kentucky and southern Indiana
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Home prices are still trending up in the greater Louisville area, according to data released by the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors. Despite higher list prices, the number of homes sold in greater Louisville in the second quarter of 2024 also rose compared to the same quarter a year ago. 2,676 homes sold this year compared to 2,623 in 2023.

NWS identifies 7th tornado that touched down in Tri-State on July 9
The National Weather Service has confirmed that a seventh tornado touched down as part of an outbreak of severe storms on July 9. While the headline of that day's outbreak was an EF-3 tornado that ripped through Mount Vernon, Indiana, the remnantes of Hurricane Beryl now officially produced seven twisters in Western Kentucky and Southwestern Indiana.
