WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — Progress is being made on a big project at one local college in the Friendly City.

The B&O Building at West Virginia Northern Community College is undergoing a restoration and preservation project on the building’s exterior.

With the support of West Virginia Legislators, funds were allocated to the institution to help with the $2 million project.

The president at WVNCC Dr. Dan Mosser says the project will consist of restoring the granite, limestone, brick, and other materials used when the building was built. He says the decorative crown that deteriorated off the top of the building will be re-installed as well as a marquee canopy at the main entrance.

”This is the first real major restoration of the exterior, it’s been cleaned a few times, but this is a major restoration of the exterior. So they’re resealing it keeping the water out in order to preserve the building so it will last longer. The support from the state is critically important to us being able to maintain and operate these buildings.”

Dr. Dan Mosser – President, West Virginia Northern Community College

Dr. Mosser says the exterior restoration project is scheduled to be completed by the spring of 2025 when another deferred maintenance project will begin on the courtyard outside the main entrance.
