Lakeisha went to work on August 5, 2002, just as she always did. Lakeisha was a hard worker and didn't like to ever miss work.
That afternoon, a family member picked up and drove her home to her apartment in Sidney, Ohio.
Shortly after that, Lakeisha walked to her mom's house. She visited with her mom for a while and borrowed some movies she wanted to watch later. As she left, she turned to her mom and said, "Mom, I love you and I’ll talk to you tomorrow"
Her mom told her she loved her too, and Lakeisha walked out the door.
While Lakeisha and her mom spoke almost every day, it wasn't completely unusual to go a couple of days without talking. Lakeisha was a 22-year-old young woman living her life.
However, a few days later, Lakeisha's workplace called her mom, wondering where Lakeisha had been. She had not been at work for the last couple of days, and that was very unusual.
Attempts to reach Lakeisha were unsuccessful, and her mom called the local Sidney Police Department to report her daughter as missing.
As they investigated, they discovered the last time anyone saw her was the night she left her mom's house. They also couldn't find the movies she had borrowed, leaving many to wonder if Lakeisha had ever even made it home to her apartment the night of August 5th.
It was as if Lakeisha had vanished into the night.
Police have few clues to go on, although they have said they have a couple of items of evidence but have declined to say what those items are.
Lakeisha did have an on-again, off-again boyfriend, but he was interviewed and there was no evidence found to put him with Lakeisha that night.
Lakeisha is described as an African-American female. She stands 5'5" and weighed around 170 pounds when. she was last seen on August 5, 2002. Lakeisha has black hair and brown eyes. She also has a tattoo of claw marks on each breast, a tattoo of a black panther on her left forearm, and a tattoo of her name "Lakeisha" in black ink on the right side of her neck.
She may have been wearing a multicolored t-shirt, jeans, and either white Adidas sneakers with red stripes, or blue Nike sneakers with a patent leather heel and a zipper on the front.
