As reported on News Center 7 at 11, at Welcome Stadium Tuesday night’s Belmont and Stivers boys’ soccer game was delayed due to extreme temperatures.

Many fans said they were grateful for the delay.

Hajer and Massaer Adem were at Welcome Stadium to watch their brother play.

On social media, Dayton Public School said it was taking extra steps to make sure its athletes were okay.

At the soccer game Tuesday night, players took several water breaks and also had misting fans near their benches.

Ephreme Birindwa plays soccer at Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School and was practicing on the field earlier in the day.

“We had more water breaks than usual, we had four or five-ish, and practice ended early,” Birindwa said.

No matter the weather, Ibrahim Sulait said he was just happy to watch his friends play.
