My heart wants to think this was a joke but my mind knows better. Yellowstone National Park is high on most American’s bucket list and for good reason. The first national park in our country’s history spans nearly 3,500 square miles and is home to an assortment of landscapes and wildlife that really can’t be found together anywhere else. People from everywhere in the states and beyond flock to Yellowstone in droves each year, racking up over 3 million visits each year since 2008 (excluding 2020) with a whooping 4.86 million dropping in during 2021. Summer is peak season, smack dab in the middle of tourists packing themselves in like sardines to see the well-know features while vast areas are left nearly completely unexplored. The law of large numbers pretty much guarantees that at least some of those tourists are going to cause problems and trust us, we’ll be here to let you know when one does. Remember when this
guy got tossed into a tree by a bison and these tourons nearly paid the full price for getting close to a moose? Well, another tourist is getting some notoriety online for a different reason. She didn’t try to pet an animal or walk through a hot spring, in fact she didn’t even see the animals she most wanted to: bears. So when she and (presumably) her husband checked out of a Yellowstone lodge, she left the following complaint for housekeeping (of all people) to find: “Our visit was wonderful but we never saw any bears. Please train your bears to be where guests can see them. This was an expensive trip to not get to see bears.” https://www.instagram.com/p/C7CLHOOLi8X/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=fdb41ba9-8b39-4c84-8813-880d385ddf02 TRAIN YOUR BEARS?! She travelled all the way to Wyoming and thought that the animals in the park were part of some elaborate zoo type thing? Some people, man… Granted, she probably has never really been in the wild before and knows nothing about animals, but still, I feel it’s common knowledge that wild animals are, well, wild. The tourists of Yellowstone National Park never fail to impressive, but this one will hold a particularly special place in my heart for a long, long time.
