You’re gonna need a bigger boat.

Imagine going out on the water in your canoe and encountering a moose at eye level. That’s exactly what happened to this New Hampshire man when a massive moose went wading into the water, and at one point was standing in water up to its chest and was still almost taller than the man in his small boat.

In case you were in need of moose facts, people generally don’t realize how big these creatures really are. Moose are the largest of all deer in the deer family, and males are typically bigger than females. On average, bull moose stand at 6 feet tall at their shoulders, and can even weigh up to 1,400 pounds, while cows usually top out at 1,000 pounds (and can also reach as high as 6 feet).

It’s unclear how deep this water was that the man was canoeing through, but regardless, it’s still impressive to see that the moose is touching the bottom and effortlessly walking around while this guy paddles along. He actually holds off on paddling so he doesn’t spook the sizable moose, who appears to have been cooling off and getting a drink from the water source (talk about multitasking).

All the guy in the canoe could do was look in awe – and try not to make any sudden movements – as the moose casually walked right along where he was boating. Multiple times throughout the clip, the guy looks back towards the person filming as if to say, “Can you believe this?”

And there’s a good chance no one wouldn’t have believed them if they didn’t capture this unique encounter on camera. Luckily for the rest of us, it was all “caught on tape,” and we’re able to see a moose showcase it’s sheer size as it walks in a place where humans regularly need a boat to traverse.
