Nashville’s resident country rocker teaming up with the GOATs.

Ok, “greatest of all time” might be a stretch, but Creed has definitely had a resurgence in popularity in recent years. In fact, their greatest hits album even broke back into the top 40 on the Billboard charts earlier this year – 20 years after it was released.

And in my opinion, it’s well-deserved.

As somebody who listened to a lot of Creed during my middle and high school years, not only is their music nostalgic, but they had so many bangers back in the day. And let’s be honest, at this point anybody who says they don’t like Creed is probably just a lying try-hard. I mean, come on:

Well the band is currently on their Summer of ’99 Tour, which was at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville last night. And in a not-so-surprising surprise appearance, HARDY joined them on stage for a rockin’ performance of “Weathered,” the title track to their 2001 album – which also happened to be their last album before their hiatus.

The album also featured hits like “One Last Breath” and “My Sacrifice,” but unfortunately begun a downward spiral for Creed and lead singer Scott Stapp.

The tour to promote Weathered was delayed after Stapp suffered severe injuries in a car crash, which led to a painkiller addiction in addition to the struggles with alcohol that he was already dealing with.

It culminated in a concert in December 2002 in Rosemont, Illinois when concertgoers filed a lawsuit against the band alleging that Stapp was “so intoxicated and/or medicated that he was unable to sing the lyrics of a single Creed song.”

While the lawsuit was ultimately dismissed, the band issued an apology for the show and years later Stapp confirmed that he was in fact medicated during the concert. But the performance led to problems within the band, and after taking a year off, Creed disbanded in 2004.

They would briefly reunite again in 2009, embarking on a reunion tour and working on a new album – but that album never came to fruition, and just a couple of years later Creed once again went on a break.

As far back as 2020 though, there were rumblings that yet another reunion was possible, and in 2023 Creed gave fans what they wanted and announced their first tour since 2012. And it seems like the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans who grew up listening to Creed eager to get out and see them once again.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to scream along with this one in person?
