“He Calls Me On My Sh*t” — Miranda Lambert Opens Up On Marriage & Her Husband’s “Harsh New Yorker” Attitude

A rare peak into her personal life. Miranda Lambert a guest on Bunnie XO's Dumb Blonde podcast this week, and in a clip shared to TikTok she gave fans a glimpse into her marriage. Miranda married Brendan McLoughlin, a former NYPD officer, in January of 2019, and the two have kept their relationship pretty private and out of the public eye. They met when Miranda was on set of Good Morning America with her bandmates in the Pistol Annies, and obviously he caught their eye right away: "We're really best friends, honestly, and it's you know, a girl from Lindale, Texas and a guy from Staten Island, New York. He was a cop, and I was doing 'Good Morning America.' We kind of crossed paths, my friend Angaleena, my bandmate, she was eight months pregnant and she was wearing giant heels. She was towering over everyone, and she was looking around she was like oh, there's a cop over there, he's hot. Hot cop everyone, hot cop, like tapping us on the shoulders. We're like yeah, he's cute, but it's eight in the morning and we've been up doing glam since 3:30. All I care about it looking at the back of my eyelids right now, 'cuz we had a show that night." Her security team invited Brendan to the show later that night (with no +1, obviously) and they met up afterwards and Miranda suggested they be pen pals... which Brendan was a little surprised by, though he is eight years younger so I'm guessing he hadn't mailed too many hand written letters: "My security invited him, they kind of knew some of the same people, so my security team invited him to the show. We gave him one ticket, no +1, he came by himself, and we met up after the show. I didn't even see him before the show, we met up after and hung out and talked. I didn't really know, there wasn't an agenda rally it was just like, 'Hey, nice to meet you.' He was super cool, we talked and just kept in touch. And we wrote each other literal letters, like old school. I was like, 'Do you wanna be pen pals?' He was like, 'Write letters with pens?' I was like, 'Yeah.' He's eight years younger, so that was really mind blowing to him." Miranda added that they "hit it off" right away, and while maybe come from two completely different parts of the country, "We just hit it off, we're very different, but we come from the same background. He's from a law enforcement and first responded family, our attitudes align. And he's someone in my life that is not a 'yes' person. I don't believe in surrounding yourself with 'yes' people at all, and I don't do that. I don' think it's healthy mentally. I think it's very important, and Brenda's just very honest, he's a harsh New Yorker, and I like that because he just tells it like it is, he doesn't sugar coat. He calls me on my sh*t."
