Country music and rodeoing go hand in hand. For decades, the Western way of life has often influenced the country music industry, intertwining the meaning of a simple and hard-working life with silky smooth melodies for the perfect song. And let's go on and clear this one up...all you pop country folk...maybe you need to take some notes and spend some time out on the farm to enhance a few of your lines. It might go over better with the listener. Since cowboys and country music go hand in hand, what better way to highlight that than to ask some Professional Bull Riders who their favorite artist is? Over the weekend, the PBR was in Nashville, Tennessee, as the team competitions were underway. The league's number one team, the Carolina Cowboys, remained undefeated in Nashville, but before the flank straps were put on, the bulls and helmets were strapped on, the PBR social media team hit the locker room to ask a few of the riders about their favorite artist—a very fitting question for the Music City stop of the PBR. Kicking it off with Cooper Davis, he says that Zach Top is his, which is a solid start to this rapid-fire compilation. That was followed up with several riders naming George Strait as their number one. Cody Johnson's "Dear Rodeo," Waylon Jennings, Treaty Oak Revival, Riley Green, and a surprising Megan Moroney were thrown into the mix. Derek Kolbaba was one of us regarding how he answered the question.
"Man, that's a loaded question. New one, I like Zach Top. Zach Top is rank... 'Use Me,' 'I Never Lie.' Keith Whitley's gotta kind of be the old school for me, but you just can't beat a good George Strait song either." Another competitor noted that he likes Morgan Wallen but recognizes that "he's not really country." After hearing all their answers, I really like this bunch of fellas, from their insights into what they consider country music. They are just like us...except they can sit 8 seconds on top of a mean bucking machine. The PBR has GREAT music taste.
