“Our Entire Salary To Get Those” – Caitlin Clark Jabs At WNBA Salaries When Asked If She’d Get Season Tickets For Relatives

There's no doubt that Caitlin Clark has changed the game of basketball - and she's still trying to change it as much as she can. Her superstardom, which directly translated from her college days at Iowa to the WNBA's Indiana Fever, allows for Clark to be a proponent of furthering the game, and really all of women's sports. So when she saw the opportunity to poke at the WNBA and the salaries they pay their players, she took it. After playing in a game where Clark broke the single season assist record (with 12 games still left to play), she sat down with her Fever teammate Lexie Hull to answer questions from the media. At one point, a reporter asked both Hull and Clark if they planned on hooking up their loved ones with season tickets:
"Are you gonna get those relatives season tickets now?" Hull, a sharpshooter who's become a big asset for the Indiana Fever as of late, started to respond with the cookie-cutter, regular ol' sports mumbo jumbo answer, saying: "I mean, we might have to... we'll make sure the Fever gets working on that." But Clark jumped in while Hull was still answering and made sure to set the record straight about how much season tickets are, and what the price of those compare to how much WNBA players are bringing in: "Those are pretty expensive. Our salaries... it's like our entire salary to get those." Clark's base salary of $76,00 is obviously higher than other WNBA players, not to mention her multi-million dollar endorsement deals, so she's likely saying that on behalf of some of her teammates (and others across the league) that don't bring home as much. At least I hope so, considering it looks like WNBA season tickets start at around $2,000. I would venture to guess that Indiana Fever season tickets are a little more pricey than the others... they average significantly more fans per game than any other WNBA team. When Caitlin said that, laughs filled the room. But she made it clear that what she stated was no laughing matter:
"I'm not kidding. We need people to help." Both Clark and Hull started to laugh at the end, as you'll see in the clip below. Though I don't think they were chuckling because they were joking, as Caitlin cleared up. Seems as though both knew that they could get into a little bit of trouble for what they just said to the media - and they didn't care all that much.
