Where does all the time go? To quote the all time classic movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." I'm sure we can all relate in some way to the passage of time seemingly speeding up at some point in our lives. The only moments where time moves slow for me nowadays are when I'm waiting for food to come out of the microwave, or trying to hold a plank for longer than 30 seconds. If you're of a certain age, you probably remember staring at the clock during school and it seeming to never move a millimeter. And now, you seem to just blink a couple of times and a whole week goes by. The best way I've heard the phenomenon of time speeding up described is that if each year is a percentage of your life, the percent each year represents gets smaller as you get older. So when you are four years old, each year is 25 percent of your life. When you are 50 years old, each year is 2 percent of your life. Hopefully you are following along with that, because it does seem to make sense as to why time seems to go by quicker the older you get. I'm sure this dad that posted this clip would agree with that logic. A video from Ray Petelin, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native who describes himself as a dad, husband and meteorologist, is currently going viral on social media. And it's one of those
good kinds of viral, where something wholesome gets a lot of attention. After all, this was a clip that was over a decade in the making. He interviewed is daughter before every first day of school, from kindergarten to her senior year of high school. Each year, he'd ask her to spell her name, and then what she wanted to be when she grew up. It's cool to see her answers change as the years go on, and it obviously tugs at the heart strings for those who have a kid that's growing up in school. I'm sure Ray Petelin thought, "Oh boy, this idea will take forever," and then BAM his kid is a senior in high school. It's well worth your time to watch it - just prepare to cry if you tend to be sensitive to these kinds of things: https://twitter.com/RayPetelinWx/status/1827905314668069254
