No guitars like them. Gibson has been a trusted guitar brand by musicians for over 130 years. To celebrate the company's historic milestone, they are releasing guitars through Gibson Custom that celebrate the musicians, singers, and songwriters who have carried iconic Gibson Acoustic guitars. Today, the company announced the release of two limited-edition guitars, the
Johnny Cash SJ-200 and Rosanne Cash J-185. These two guitars have long been sought out by collectors and avid music lovers worldwide, and now you can own one. The Johnny Cash SJ-200 replicates the distinctive signature guitar he sported in the late 1950s, and this handmade version is a rare reproduction of that instrument. The Rosanne Cash J-185 was made in close collaboration with Johnny Cash's eldest daughter, and both guitars are made at the Gibson acoustic craftory in Bozeman, Montana. https://www.instagram.com/p/C_LXofvA210/?img_index=1 "Guitars were always around in the house and my Dad would always have a guitar in his lap, even if he wasn’t playing it. It speaks to…personal, professional legacy…it is so essential to my family. I have known that guitar, my Dad’s Gibson, for so many years. That guitar is part of Dad.
The instrument is not just a vehicle, instruments have different songs in them. I think great art lasts forever and I do hope these get passed down to children, grandchildren, and on and on and on.” Rosanne noted the importance of this collaboration with Gibson. Only 100 of each model were made, so these guitars will sell fast and cost a pretty penny. The Rosanne Cash J-185 will run you $5,299, and the Johnny Cash SJ-200 will cost you $14,999. However, for guitar collectors, these will be cherished and passed down for centuries to come. For the 200 folks who can own one of these guitars, I hope you fill them with stories and music that can be shared with your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As Rosanne mentioned, a cherished guitar is essential to a musical family, and it makes art that lasts forever. Check out how Rosanne thought about every detail that went into both of these guitars. Everything is so intentional and highlights the legacy that Johnny Cash left on the industry and the impact that Rosanne continues to leave on the industry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c23VzeeLpk
