15-year-old girl victim of sextortion

White Deer, Pa. — Police say an unidentified man befriended a 15-year-old girl on social media and stole her photos to create pornographic images.

The girl's mother contacted police on July 3 after she found out the suspect had communicated with the girl via the WhatsApp and Instagram, according to Trp. Tony Croak of state police at Milton. The male suspect had pretended to be a 15-year-old female in order to befriend the girl.

The suspect then accessed the girl's Instagram photos and created child pornography using her face and unknown juvenile female body images, Croak said. The suspect then requested money from the girl with the threat of posting the altered images of her.

Police continue to investigate.
