JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ark. – A foundation formed to honor a White Hall teen killed more than a year ago is working to inspire and help future athletes.
It has been over one year since White Hall High School senior Benjamen Redix was shot and killed. His mother Shaneisha Robinson said Redix loved sports and his family.
“He ran track, he did triple jump, he also played football, when he wasn’t doing those type of things he was spending time with me and his siblings,” Robinson said.
‘He made life better’: White Hall student shot and killed the night before graduation To honor him and continue his goal of becoming a coach one day, his family started the Benjamen Redix Project.
“Our goal is to help student-athletes in Jefferson County and their family,” Robinson said.
They’ll hold the first BRP camp free for kids, teaching them skills they’ll use on and off the field.
Robinson said Redix spent every day reaching for his goals, gaining a full-ride track scholarship to Southern Arkansas University. The group hopes to continue what he started and pour into the youth of Jefferson County.
“And we just plan to grow and keep his legacy and name alive to help other student-athletes reach their goals,” Robinson said.
Benjamen Redix Project holds first gala, raising money for student-athletes in Jefferson County The free youth camp is for kids ages 5 through 12 and will be held at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on July 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
