Angel Reese's WNBA-record double-double streak ends two points short
Angel Reese, who is from the Baltimore area, had her WNBA-record double-double streak at 15 games in the Chicago Sky's 81-67 loss to the New York Liberty.Reese, a front-runner for WNBA Rookie of the Year, finished with eight points and 16 rebounds for the Sky. The Liberty swarmed Reese with four defenders in the final seconds.Reese grew up in Randallstown and played her high school basketball at Baltimore's St. Frances Academy. She started her college career at Maryland before transferring to LSU where she won a national championship and earned All-American honors.Sabrina Ionescu scored 28 points for New York.Jonquel Jones added 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for New York (20-4), which has won three games in a row, including a 91-76 win over the Sky on Thursday. New York, which committed five turnovers, scored 11 points off 14 Sky turnovers.

Salisbury alumnus Vance Honeycutt drafted by the Orioles in MLB Draft's 1st round
Former Salisbury two-sport star and UNC junior Vance Honeycutt has been selected with the 22nd overall pick in the MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. Honeycutt achieved notoriety nationwide with clutch hits to help the Tar Heels reach Omaha. He's also the Tar Heels' all-time leading home-run hitter (65), finishing his college career with 76 stolen bases, 205 runs scored, 170 RBIs, a Gold Glove award (first in school history), two ACC Defensive Players of the Year awards (first in conference history), and made six different publications' all-American teams in 2024. He hit 28 homers his junior year alone.
Illinois RHP Jack Crowder drafted to Baltimore Orioles
On Monday night, in the ninth round of the MLB Draft, the Baltimore Orioles drafted Jack Crowder, a right-handed pitcher from Illinois. Crowder was selected with the 279th overall pick, and was the only Illini drafted in the first ten rounds. The second half of the draft will continue on Tuesday.
Towson Softball Strengthens Roster with Four Standout Transfers for 2025 Season
Towson University softball has added four transfers for the 2025 season, with players enrolling in the fall in preparation for the spring campaign. Jenna Giattino, a sophomore outfielder from University of Delaware, brings three years of eligibility and accolades from her time at Donovan Catholic. Anaya Troy, a junior utility player from University of Delaware, joins with experience in over 67 games and academic honors. Cadence Williams, a sophomore pitcher from University of South Alabama, returns to Maryland with pitching prowess and a state title under her belt. Briyana Wright, a junior infielder from Lipscomb University, brings her experience as a starter and past achievements in high school softball.
