A 73-year-old Somerset County man died of his injuries five days after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 287 in Piscataway, authorities said. PLAINFIELD, NJ — Shortly before 11:30am on Saturday, the Plainfield Fire Department responded to a fire at a single-family home on Inwood Place in Plainfield, near its intersection with Leland Avenue. Firefighters and emergency medical personnel were on hand, though it is yet unclear if there were any injuries. Smoke billowed above the residential neighborhood early on, but the fire was contained quickly.
