Rock Falls Man Found Guilty In Deadly Fire In Whiteside Co
STERLING - A Whiteside County jury is convicting a Rock Falls man of setting a deadly 2020 fire in Sterling. Steven Coleman was found guilty of murder and arson charges Friday. The blaze happened in June 2020 at Western Apartments on West 3rd Street. Carrie Hose, eight-year-old Shayla Walker and 13-year-old Celina Serrano all died in the fire. Coleman will be sentenced in October.

MORRISON, Ill — Steven Coleman has been convicted of setting a 2020 Sterling apartment fire that killed three people and injured multiple others. On Friday, July 19, a Whiteside County jury found Coleman guilty of three counts of murder, three counts of aggravated arson, and one count of residential arson. Coleman was also found not guilty of three counts of murder with a strong probability to kill or injure.
