On Tuesday at 3:42 p.m. an updated tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 4 p.m. for Oneida County. "At 3:27 p.m., a confirmed tornado was near Rome, moving east at 35 mph," states the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the temporary closure of Hinckley Reservoir Day Use Area in Cold Brook, Herkimer County. Due to storm damage in the area occurring on the evening of July 16, the roadways leading to the facility are badly damaged and impassable. The facility will be closed to all patrons until further notice while crews work to repair damaged roadways.
