As the heat index rose and the potential for storms grew, a tornado has been confirmed in Rome, NY - just north of Utica. On Tuesday at 3:42 p.m. an updated tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 4 p.m. for Oneida County. "At 3:27 p.m., a confirmed tornado was near Rome, moving east at 35 mph," states the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
