This dream of a summer treat features layer upon layer of vanilla soft-serve and Grandma Birdie’s homemade cherry pie. (Ingredients: tart northern Michigan cherries, hand-rolled top crust, and love. The rest is a secret!) It’s topped off with whipped cream and plenty of sprinkles, and it goes great with a wagon ride through the orchards! Grab a parfait ($10)—and maybe a pie for later!—at Myrtle & Maude’s at 10981 Elk Lake Rd., Williamsburg. myrtleandmaudes.com.

To U-pick all the rubies your heart desires, one of my favorite spots is Santucci Farm on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City. Just a stone’s throw up the peninsula, you’ll find Edmondson Orchards if you’d rather purchase from a roadside farm stand. Make sure to buy at least a quart of sweet and tart each, and while you’re at it, look for unique varieties like Ebony Pearl and White Gold.
