Dalton Utilities to extend sewer to Connector 3
The board of Dalton Utilities recently moved to expand sewer to the area around the Connector 3 interchange, Yeager Road and Dug Gap Road. The board approved a $303,100 bid from UWS of Buford for the project. That is labor only. Dalton Utilities will provide the materials, which have a projected cost of $119,128.

Man granted immunity in stabbing death
A Whitfield County Superior Court judge has granted a man immunity from prosecution in the stabbing death of a Dalton man last year. William Labron Holmes of Whitfield County was charged with felony murder, malice murder, voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault in the Nov. 24 death of Ryan Carl Dennison.

Creative Arts Guild, Dug Gap Elementary among state arts grant recipients
ATLANTA — The Georgia Council for the Arts, a strategic arm of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, announced that more than $3.5 million in competitive grant funding will be distributed to recipients across the state through its Bridge, Project, and Arts Education Program grants.
