RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Russellville Police Department (RPD) said two people have been arrested following a chase involving a stolen car.

RPD officers say early Wednesday morning, they found a suspicious car near a closed business. As the officer tried to make contact with the car, the driver sped off and committed several traffic violations in an attempt to get away.

Officers say the car chase reached speeds of 110 miles per hour. The chase ran through Colbert County and ended near the intersection of US-72 and Wilson Dam Road.

Once the car chase ended, two people fled on foot. After a short chase and search, Cassie Brooke Cummings and Michael Andrew Harrison were arrested. Officers said they discovered the car was reported stolen from a nearby jurisdiction.

Cummings and Harrison were charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, felony attempting to elude the police, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
