    Jury selected in Morgan County ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ capital murder trial

    DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — A jury has been selected in the capital murder trial of Frederic Rogers, one of two men charged with killing seven people in Valhermoso Springs in June 2020.

    News 19 crews were in the courtroom as the jury was selected. The jury consists of six men and 10 women, four of which are alternates.

    The jury pool included about 100 people when selection began on Wednesday, and Morgan County Circuit Judge Stephen Brown laid out a plan for attorneys to question would-be jurors in groups of 25 over the next two days leading up to the final selection.

    Opening statements in the case are set to begin Tuesday. The state is seeking the death penalty against Rogers in the case.

    Judge Brown told one prospective juror the trial could last until the week of Sept. 16.

    Rogers is charged with killing seven people as part of an apparent dispute within their motorcycle club known as the “Seven Deadly Sins,” according to investigators.

    Rogers and Legg were arrested in Oregon 18 days after the killings .

    The victims were, William Zane Hodgin, 18; Jeramy Roberts, 31; James Benford, 22; Roger Jones Jr., 19; Emily Payne, 21; Tammy England Muzzey, 45; and Dakota Green, 17. A dog also was killed at the home, investigators said.
