HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — We hit 100° in Huntsville on Wednesday, but the humidity hasn’t been a big factor the last few days. That changes today as a higher concentration of moisture streams into the region.

The higher humidity will support a hot and humid Thursday for the Tennessee Valley.

With the threat of higher humidity than previous days, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory Thursday from noon to 9 pm. An advisory is issued when the heat index is forecast to range from 105 to 109 degrees for two consecutive hours or longer.

Counties included will be Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, and Morgan counties in Alabama.

Highs are forecast to reach the middle to upper 90s, but this time the humidity increases producing triple-digit heat index values through the afternoon. The best chance for this will be along and west of I-65. The higher terrain of northeast Alabama doesn’t meet the advisory criteria.

There will be some showers and storms around as well. Here are some of the “feels like” temperatures for the afternoon.

When spending time outdoors, it’s important to practice heat safety. As we move into the Labor Day weekend, temperatures won’t be as hot with a chance of showers and storms.
