    HPD: 16-year-old charged with capital murder after Tuesday shooting in Huntsville

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Huntsville Police Department said a 16-year-old was arrested and charged with capital murder after a shooting on Max Luther Drive.

    Officers responded to Huntsville Hospital after three gunshot victims showed up around 4:40 p.m. HPD said one of the victims died at the hospital and another victim is still in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    The Madison County Coroner said the victim was 15 years old and his death is ruled a homicide.

    The officer said he learned the shooting involved juveniles in two cars on Max Luther Drive, west of Washington Street. HPD said officers on the scene found ballistic evidence.

    The department said less than two hours later, the suspect vehicle was found. Two juvenile passengers were taken to be interviewed.

    HPD said one was charged with capital murder and the other was released.

    Major Crimes Unit investigators said the incident involved an ongoing disagreement between the juveniles from before September 3.

    The department said on Tuesday, the victims were followed from the area of Blue Spring Road and Sparkman Drive to Max Luther Drive, where the shooting happened.

    HPD said this investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
