Iowa State Fair champion baker to compete on new Netflix show

DES MOINES, Iowa — One of the most decorated Iowa State Fair contestants of all time is competing in a new Netflix show.

Eileen Gannon grew up on a family farm in Mingo and is the youngest of 14 children. She grew up attending the State Fair and first entered a food contest with her mother when she was 12.

Since then, she’s won over 600 blue ribbons, and her specialty is cakes since she won best overall cake 11 times.

Now, Gannon is representing the Iowa State Fair in Netflix’s Blue Ribbon Baking Championship . She will compete against nine other chefs from across the county, each representing different state fairs.

All eight of the episodes of the show come out on Friday, August 9th.
