CHICAGO (NEXSTAR) – The Democratic National Convention wraps up in Chicago Thursday night with Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepting her party’s nomination for president.

Her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, formally accepted his party’s nomination for vice president.

“It’s the honor of my life,” said Walz.

The Minnesota governor promised voters they’d be better off under a Harris-Walz White House.

“From her first day as a prosecutor, as a district attorney, as an attorney general, as a United States senator. And then our vice president. She’s fought on the side of the American people,” said Walz.

Polling shows the race remains tight, and Democrats continue pulling out some of their most effective messengers.

“We need Kamala Harris, a president of joy, to lead us,” said former president Bill Clinton.

Former president Bill Clinton laid out why he says Americans would be better off economically under a President Kamala Harris with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi making her own case.

“She is a leader of strength and wisdom and eloquence on policy, most recently demonstrated fighting for a woman’s right to choose,” said Pelosi.

As the convention wraps up, Democrats are hopeful this week’s energy can carry the vice president through November.
