Baccam campaign increases outreach efforts as election nears

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Democratic candidate for Iowa’s Third Congressional District, Lanon Baccam, has made it a goal to talk with as many voters as possible before election day.

Several weeks ago, Baccam told WHO 13 News that the door knocking campaign would be increased after the Labor Day Weekend. With just two months to go to election day, Baccam is pleased with the effort.

“Oh my gosh, we are like nonstop,” said Baccam. “Literally in the last month alone we’ve recruited 400 volunteers…we’ve had thousands of doors knocked, thousands of phone calls made. We’ve got, heck, I’ve been to already five counties in the last couple of weeks, we’re hitting five more counties in the next two days. I mean we are getting out and getting everywhere we possibly can, even into places like Lucas, Iowa.”

Baccam finished out parade season in Lucas along with the Labor Day parade in Des Moines.

Baccam’s campaign said that the number of volunteers increased when Vice President Kamala Harris took over the top of the ticket. Iowa Democrats said that they are seeing people getting involved in politics who never have before.
