STATEWIDE –Temperatures are about to increase all across Indiana.

“Most places will get high temperatures around 88 on Friday. Then it’s around 89 on Saturday. By early next week, we’ll have highs in the low 90s,” said Jason Puma, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Puma says no rain is expected in Indiana for at least the next seven days, but there is a small chance for rain over the upper Wabash Valley Saturday night and Sunday.

He also says they’ll be keeping an eye on the heat index values. Those could reach the triple digits next week when the temperatures reach the 90s.

“Stay hydrated if you’re going to be outdoors. Take precautions because the sun is still pretty high and that can result in sunburn too,” said Puma.

Puma says this is also a time to make sure your kids or pets do not spend a lot of time in hot cars because that can result in heat stroke for a child or animal, which can result in death.

You can hear the full interview with Puma below.
