“It Was Personal”: Woman Describes Shooting Near Grocery Store

INDIANAPOLIS — She thought she was going to die. A woman shared the terrifying moments when two men fired their guns in the middle of the day at a Kroger parking lot on the near north side Friday afternoon.

The victim is in stable condition at the hospital, and no one has been arrested yet.

“Two males came out from behind me,” the woman told WIBC. “They aimed at the victim that was over there in front of his apartments; they shot him multiple times in the back.”

The woman said she was parking her car to go into the grocery store when the men came up from behind her and started shooting at a man across the street by the apartments. She talked to detectives but didn’t want to share her name. Her car was surrounded by yellow crime scene tape.

She thinks the men probably knew the guy was in the store and waited for him to come out before they started shooting.

“They literally rose their arms up and started shooting and hit him three times, and he fell, and then they kept shooting,” she says. “I’m the one that called 911. I thought he was going to shoot me in the head because he saw me calling 911, but he just didn’t care. He was focused on shooting at that guy.”
“It was personal; they wanted him dead,” she added.
