Despite blistering heat, work continues on at least two new restaurants coming to Wichita Falls.

The walls are up on a new Domino’s location at 2212 Kemp Blvd. just north of a Braum’s restaurant.

City permits show the property is owned by MAD Holdings LLC of Lawton.

The building is being erected on a lot that has been vacant for several years and formerly held a residence.

The completed restaurant will be the third Domino’s in Wichita Falls. The company’s website says the new store will open soon but does not provide a date.

Domino’s, specializing in pizza, began in Michigan in 1960 and has more than 15,000 stores nationwide.

Work also continues on converting a former Mexican food restaurant into a new eatery with Japanese cuisine.

The former El Fenix location at 3802 Call Field Road is in the process of being converted to a Japan House restaurant.

A sign advertises that the business will be an “all you can eat” restaurant. No opening date is posted.

The EL Fenix restaurant closed without notice in October 2018 after opening the location six years earlier, and its site has remained vacant since then.

The arrival of El Fenix was heralded as a new beginning for the Faith Village Shopping Center, which was constructed in 1956 but saw a decline in occupancy prior to major renovations by a new owner in 2012.
