King's Good Vineyard and Berry Farm celebrates third annual blackberry jamboree

CHARLIE — It was the final day of blackberry season, so the King's Good Vineyard and Berry Farm hosted its third annual blackberry jamboree on Tuesday.

The King's Good Vineyard and Berry Farm is family-owned and family-operated roughly 25 miles northeast of Wichita Falls.

"We have the blackberries and grapes in our café," Lauren Morath, co-owner of King's Good Vineyard and Berry Farm, said.

Her husband Jacob's brother, Will Morath, lives right across the street, Lauren said.

"The strawberry patch is at his house, so the King's Good Vineyard and Berry Farm encompasses all of that," she said.

Customers could choose a red bucket and cruise the several rows of blackberry vines in front of the house as part of the U-pick blackberries event.

Prices were determined by weight at checkout, and customers could then package their berries to go.

The Steward Family String Band performed several songs while guests could purchase sandwiches, chips, drinks and desserts inside the café. Other delicacies such as jellies and pecans could be purchased inside as well.

Although blackberry picking is done, the King's Good Vineyard and Berry Farm is making way for its U-pick grape season next.
