WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — The gates are almost open for the 43rd Annual Texas Ranch Roundup.

“The ranching lifestyle never stops,” North Texas Rehab Marketing Director Regan Nabors said.

Each year, 10 historic ranches from around the Lone Star State compete in the Kay Yeager Coliseum to see who is the best to then compete in the Working Ranch Cowboys Association Championship in Amarillo in November.

“Watching those cowboys do things that you don’t really ever get to see every day that they’re doing every day is really neat,” Nabors said.

Not only do you get to enjoy the official sport of Texas, but kids’ roundup events and a tradeshow also fill the two-day event.

“A neat experience for our vendors to really showcase what they do, whether it’s leatherwork or traditional bits and spurs—a lot of things that we don’t see day in and day out,” Nabors said.

Ticket purchases benefit the North Texas Rehab Center, West Texas Boys Ranch and West Texas Rehab Center.

“From pediatrics to geriatrics and in between. To be able to help, to not turn anybody away, and to help them with some of their funding for their rehabilitation services,” Nabors said.

And, the purchase of a $20 ticket on Friday gets you access to the roundup and Casey Donahew’s performance that night at 9:15.

Nabors said she meets at least one attendee who has never been before.

“They’re like, ‘I don’t know how—I’ve never been to this—I’m coming back next year,’ and just knowing that your ticket is going to a great cause and you’re getting to have a lot of fun at the same time,” Nabors said.
