WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Testimony has begun before a jury in 78th District Court for a 64-year-old Wichita Falls man accused of molesting and sexually assaulting a sixth-grade girl he babysat while her mother worked.

Local man back behind bars on new assault charge

Michael Tackitt is on trial for two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child in 2021. He remains jailed on a $200,000 bond.

The mother and victim told police Tackitt was responsible for watching and caring for the girl at his house while the mother was at work.

The girl said Tackitt would purchase costumes and play outfits for her and told her they would have “secrets.” She said he told her that if she told them to anyone, he might go to prison.

She said the abuse began around the time she finished the sixth grade and began with touching and molesting and progressed to assaults.

Police say Tackitt denied the allegations of sexual abuse but admitted telling the girl she was like a drug to him and he needed his “fix” from her.

They also say they found texts on his phone about purchasing a schoolgirl outfit and other costumes for the girl.
