WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A Wichita Falls man has made a plea deal for assaulting his girlfriend when she was 22 weeks pregnant and for violating his bond restrictions, barring him from getting near a victim.

Jonas Walls, 34, was given a two-year state jail sentence for the 2020 assault on McGaha Street and the bond violations.

The woman told police she and her boyfriend of nine months, Walls, were arguing after she confronted him about cheating on her with another woman. She said Walls punched her in the chin and stomach.

After his arrest and release on that charge, Walls was arrested six more times, including for public intoxication, assault, family violence on Christmas Day 2022, and criminal trespass at the apartment he was barred from on Christmas Day.

In the alleged Christmas Day assault, officers responded to the 5300 block of Professional Drive when a woman’s 11-year-old son called stating his mother’s boyfriend was “beating her very badly.”

A neighbor also called and said it sounded like the woman was being thrown around and killed.

When police arrived, they found the son in his bedroom with the door locked, crying and very scared.

Officers said they found the victim bleeding and she told them Walls had punched her 5 times in the face and threw her around the bathroom.

They said Walls had tried to clean blood off the walls with towels.

Police said Walls told them he got mad when the victim’s son came out of his room asking them to stop fighting because he had a friend over. They said Walls said, “Who does he think he is?”

Police said Walls told them his girlfriend took her son’s side and told him not to cause problems because it was Christmas.

On the same day as his other pleas, Walls pleaded guilty to the Christmas Day assault and the judge gave him two days in jail on this charge, which he was credited as already served.

Two charges of criminal trespass were previously dismissed.
