WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — With the school year just around the corner, one local business wants to make sure every child has what they need for the first day back.
Gerardo and Adriana Saldana, owners of Tacos y Tortas El Pelon and The Yard downtown, have partnered with over 20 local businesses to host their third annual back-to-school bash.
Big Brothers Big Sister’s Dino Dash seeks to double funds in second year: Register now This event allows families to stop by and choose from over 350 backpacks stuffed with school supplies, thanks to the Zavala Hispanic Cultural Initiative.
This year, the local business is doing something new by offering 10 lucky teachers a gift card worth $200. Next week, you can nominate your favorite teachers through Tacos y Tortas’ Facebook page . The ones who receive the most nominations will win the gift cards.
“If you see the Yard or the Tacos y Tortas El Pelon, we always try to help the community with different events during the year,” Adriana Saldana said. “So that’s what we try to show them some kind of support, the same support that this shows to us.”
The back-to-school bash is happening Friday, August 9th, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Yard located at 703 Ohio Street.
Saldana said they are always looking for more donations and sponsors for this event. You can learn more about donations by emailing Tacos y Tortas at tacosytortaselpelon@gmail.com .
