    Iconic 80s pop acts coming to Kansas Star Arena

    MULVANE, Kan. (KSNW) — Four iconic 80s pop bands are coming to the Kansas Star Arena for the “Pop Goes the 80s” tour.

    The concert will feature Wang Chung , A Flock of Seagulls , The Escape Club and Naked Eyes . Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the concert on Saturday, Sept. 6.

    London-based new wave act Wang Chung formed in 1980, taking their name from the phonetic spelling of Huáng Zhōng, the first note of the Chinese musical scale. They are best known for their hits “Dance Hall Days” and “Everybody Have Fun Tonight.”

    New Wave pioneers A Flock of Seagulls are best remembered for their wild hairstyles and their hits “I Ran (So Far Away)” and “Space Age Love Song.” This tour features the original lineup of Mike Score on lead vocals and keyboard, drummer Ali Score, bassist Frank Maudsley, and guitarist Paul Reynolds.

    English pop rock band The Escape Club hit #1 in the U.S. with their biggest hit, “Wild, Wild West,” in Nov. 1988. They disbanded in 1992 but reunited in 2019.

    Naked Eyes began as the 4-piece band Neon, featuring Pete Bryne, Rob Fisher, Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal. Smith and Orzabal left to form Tears for Fears, and Bryne and Fisher became Naked Eyes. Their biggest hits include the cover of the Burt Bacharach and Hal David tune “Always Something There To Remind Me” and their own song “Promises, Promises.”
